Welcome! Todays post has come about quite by accident as when I was cleaning my dressing table, I realised I have accumulated rather a lot of NIVEA items so read on if you would like to learn more about my favourite tried and tested daily used products.
Firstly, a little background information about the brand, it was originally named for its pure white colour and the word NIVEA is derived from the Latin word “nix, nivis” meaning snow therefore NIVEA means “snow white.” Nivea celebrated the brand’s 100th anniversary in 2011 in Hamburg, where the NIVEA history began.
Now I tend to keep an open mind when shopping for skin care products, I generally gravitate towards any beauty products that are on special offer and it seems that NIVEA suits my purse rather well. I also love the fact that I can purchase all these products online with my regular grocery shop too!
This item is a space-saving traveller, it is the in-shower body moisturiser which I absolutely love to use when taking a shower after sunbathing. I really do not like the process of having a shower, getting dry and then having to apply moisturiser/after sun and this little gem means I don’t have to as it nourishes your skin in seconds and is absorbed quickly. Again, it has the lovely scent unique to NIVEA and is very rich and creamy and very good value for money as both a shower gel and a moisturiser.
To start my day I use Pearl & Beauty antiperspirants deodorant. It is nicely fragranced with a powdery fresh smell and more importantly I haven’t had any problems with white marks on clothes when I use this unlike many deodorants that I have tried that claim “no white marks”
Next, I apply the light moisturising lotion to my face. I have tried many facial moisturisers over the years and found some to feel too heavy or too greasy but I can honestly say this one is so lovely and light that you don’t know it is on your face once it has dried which doesn’t take long at all. It can be used as a cleanser as well so 2 products in one which is a bonus and superb value for money.
Nowadays, my skin often lacks a fresh and even complexion and it needs a touch of tinted care to look less tired and more radiant again. So to achieve this, I continue by applying a fairly small amount of daily essentials 24H moisture + soft tint, tinted day cream. Note I say a small amount as this product is thicker than other tinted moisturisers I have tried and too much made me look a very strange pale yellow colour. I found it worked best applied before letting the moisture lotion dry as it was easy to blend in using small circular motions with my fingers. It lasts throughout the day and also contains SPF15 to help prevent the skin from environmental influences that result in premature ageing.
At the end of the day when I am tired I reach for my trusty pack of creme care facial cleansing wipes to remove my make up. I love the smell of these and find they do a good job of cleansing whilst protecting the skins natural moisture balance and preventing drying out. Although they remove most make up rather well, they claim they can remove waterproof mascara with one facial wipe but I have not found this to be the case and so I invested in the next product to see if it could do a more efficient job!!!
The NIVEA Daily Essentials sensitive caring Micellar Water (Yorkshire pronunciation, my cellar wat ah) has fast become my favourite cleanser for face and eyes. Micellar water turns a lengthy make up removal session into a process that takes a matter of seconds, simply splash a few drops on to a cotton wool pad and the water works like a magnet to draw out make up and dirt. Micellar water is perfect for all skin types. It has the properties of a toner, but it doesn’t strip your skin of its essential oils which means it also doesn’t dry it out. The product is a very useful little space saver for travelling with too as you can replace having to pack your toner, make-up remover, and cleanser with a single bottle of this magical cleansing water.
My final NIVEA product is the original “Snow White” creme which I have purchased in the 50ml travel size tub. It’s very handy to keep in my hand bag to have out and about with me and I also like to take it away on holiday as it is a great soother for a sun burnt nose or ears!! It is very thick though so remember to apply it in small amounts and rub in well.
So that completes my product review for today but I’m sure I will be increasing my collection in the future and I would love to hear from you if you use any products from this skin care brand or any top tips you may wish to share!!
